Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector's direction, verifying surface prep per SSPC/NACE standards, measuring ambient conditions and film thickness, and documenting every step on tanks, structures, pipe, and concrete.

Requirements include AMPP CIP Level 1 certification (current) and 1+ year in industrial coatings application or inspection; ability to work around blasting and spray

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against data sheets.
• Maintain a daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
