Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of CIP Level 2/3 inspectors. You will verify surface preparation against SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions and surface profile, and document the coating process on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

This role requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and at least 1 year of industrial coatings experience.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is current.
• 1+ year experience in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life per data sheet.
• Maintain daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
