Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections of protective coating work under the direction of CIP Level 2/3 inspectors. You will verify surface preparation against SSPC/NACE standards, measure ambient conditions, and document each step on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

Responsibilities include recording temperatures, humidity, dew point, checking film thickness, holidays, and defects, and verifying materials and batch data.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification (current).
• At least 1 year in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE standard.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against the datasheet.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
