Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under supervision. You will verify surface prep, measure ambient conditions, film thickness, and document each step of the coating process on tanks, structures, and pipes.

The role requires AMPP CIP Level 1 certification and at least 1 year of experience in industrial coatings inspection, with a meticulous approach to using instruments and keeping accurate

Qualifications

AMPP CIP Level 1 certification (current).
At least 1 year in industrial coatings application or inspection.
Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
Meticulous with instruments and records.
Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
Verify surface preparation to specified SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile.
Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check holidays and defects.
Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against data sheet.
Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of the work.
