Job summary

Hornblower Corp. seeks an experienced Captain to operate a USCG-inspected small passenger vessel under contract with the National Park Service around the San Francisco area.

The Captain will lead and train crew, ensure safety and environmental compliance, and manage day-to-day vessel operations. The role requires USCG Inland Masters (100 ton) or equivalent, FCC Marine Radio License, and a California driver’s license, with the ability to work varied shifts including early mornings and late

Qualifications

• USCG Inland Masters (100 ton) or equivalent required.
• FCC Marine Radio License required.
• California driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required.
• Two years of boat handling experience.
• Customer service experience is helpful.
• Knowledge of foreign language is helpful.
• Open schedule and ability to work holidays and weekends.
• Shifts may start as early as 4:30 am or end as late as 10:45 pm; shifts are 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Serve as master in navigational command and operate the vessel with proper seamanship.
• Ensure the safety of crew and passengers and maintain good order aboard.
• Directly manage, supervise, and train crew including officers and deckhands.
• Lead training and drills for emergency preparedness and safety compliance.
• Conduct crew performance reviews and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain vessel operations and maintenance logs and records.
• Comply with all USCG regulations and National Park Service directives.
• Oversee discipline and performance to uphold company standards.
