Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a capable Equipment Operator-Junior/Coal Handler to perform semi-skilled maintenance and operating duties at a power plant in the United States. You'll isolate, inspect, and service strainers, heat exchangers, dust collectors, and various plant systems, while following safety rules and company procedures.

Work spans from mechanical tasks to equipment checks, lubrication, and minor plumbing, with a focus on reliability and compliance.

Qualifications

• Education requirements as listed above.
• Must be able to read, interpret and work from simple prints and specifications.
• Grant of required safety trainings and tests as outlined by the company.

Responsibilities

• Isolate, clean, open, replace, inspect, close and return to service strainers, heat exchangers and dust collectors.
• Operate, clean, service and lubricate portable power driven tools and equipment and maintain work areas.
• Operate and maintain bottom ash and flyash handling equipment and monitor plant operations.
• Perform disassembly, reconditioning, lubrication and minor maintenance on equipment and piping as needed.
• Load, unload and move materials using material handling equipment and ensure safe handling.
