Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a skilled plant operator to perform startup, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of gas/oil fueled electric generating units, including turbines, HRSGs, switches, and control systems.

You will supervise outside personnel, develop operating procedures for abnormal conditions, analyze data, and ensure environmental compliance while maintaining safety and reliability across plant operations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
7+ years in power generation operations, maintenance, instrumentation & controls, electrical or mechanical; lead work activities.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain gas/oil fueled generating units and associated equipment.
Lead start-up, operation, shutdown, and control from control room and remote locations.
Direct outside personnel, contractors, and support staff.
Develop and enforce operating procedures for abnormal conditions.
Monitor and adjust chemical and environmental parameters to ensure compliance.
