Job summary

Kennametal is seeking a talented metal cutting sales professional, or a machinist with CNC programming experience, to move into a field sales role. The position drives tool sales growth by managing customer relationships, providing technical direction, and increasing productivity for automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers in Metro Detroit.

The role is field-based, with 80%+ time in the field and occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or related business/engineering degree preferred.
• 3+ years of CNC machining industry experience; 1-2 years in technical sales preferred.
• Proficient in product knowledge, including applications and troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to explain technical concepts.
• Ability to manage strategic sales plans and deliver targets within a territory.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed revenue targets by providing metal cutting solutions.
• Generate, qualify, and manage leads and new customer accounts.
• Manage the full sales process from prospecting to closing and pricing.
• Develop territory plans to deliver revenue goals and new product sales.
• Provide timely pre-sales technical and commercial responses and CRM updates.
