Job summary

Cirrus Aircraft Ltd. in Duluth, MN seeks a Setup Machinist to prepare and operate CNC mills and lathes, load materials, and verify dimensions against blueprints. You will read drawings, adjust offsets, and ensure accuracy for first-part production.

Responsibilities include tool changes, program updates, inspections, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards while maintaining production records and supporting a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• 2-year Machinist vocational degree with 2-4 years experience or equivalent
• Demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication (written and verbal)
• Ability to manage stress with competing demands and multiple projects
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read drawings and GD&T specifications
• Experience with a variety of CNC machines (mills, lathes)
• Knowledge of materials and cutting tools
• Proficiency in basic machine setup and operations

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate CNC machines ( mills, lathes ) to ensure safe, efficient, accurate production
• Load material during operation and change or adjust cutting tools and offsets
• Determine if programs need updates and provide feedback to team
• Deburr parts to drawing requirements with high precision
• Check and fill fluid levels and manage chips; monitor maintenance needs
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specs to guide activities
• Perform inspections and document deviations from drawings
• Follow written and verbal work instructions to complete tasks
• Maintain daily production records and notable manufacturing data
• Follow safety standards and maintain a safe operating environment
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
