Job summary

Cirrus Aircraft Ltd. in Duluth, MN seeks a Setup Machinist to prepare and operate CNC mills and lathes, load materials, tools, and programs, and verify first-part dimensions against drawings.

You will read blueprints and GD&T to ensure tolerances and quality, and set up equipment for production with safe, efficient workflows. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, a 2-year Machinist vocational degree or equivalent, 2–4 years of related experience, and strong problem-solving

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-year Machinist vocational degree and 2–4 years relevant experience.
• Ability to read drawings and technical specifications including GD&T.
• Experience with CNC mills and lathes.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes) for production.
• Load material and adjust cutting tools and offsets as needed.
• Determine if programs require updates and provide feedback.
• Deburr parts to drawing requirements with hand/power tools.
• Check and maintain machine fluid levels; manage chips and maintenance.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings to guide activities.
• Inspect work and document deviations from drawings.
• Follow work instructions and keep production records.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Support safety standards and raise safety concerns promptly.
• Work beyond 40 hours as needed.
