Job Title: CNC Programmer / Supervisor
Job Description

This role leads CNC programming and day‑to‑day operations in an aluminum extrusion facility, focusing on 5-axis machining and related equipment. You will program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software, oversee a small team of machinists and operators across two shifts, and ensure efficient, high‑quality production. The position combines hands‑on programming and setup work with supervisory responsibilities on a first‑shift schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Program CNC equipment, including 5‑axis machines, HAAS, Milltronics, and older style milling machines, using CAD/CAM software based on engineering prints and specifications.
  • Quote and plan jobs by reviewing prints, determining machining methods, estimating time and resources, and preparing accurate job cost estimates.
  • Oversee CNC room operations, including daily workflow, job prioritization, and coordination of activities across two shifts.
  • Supervise a team of approximately four machinists and three operators, providing direction, support, and oversight to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Perform and support CNC machine setups, calibrations, and changeovers for production runs, ensuring correct tooling, fixtures, and programs are in place.
  • Operate CNC routing and machining equipment as needed to support production and meet deadlines.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, manufacturing specifications, and work orders to ensure parts meet design and quality requirements.
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances, and make necessary adjustments to programs or setups.
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues related to programming, tooling, or equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate production schedules and resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Maintain a safe and organized CNC work area, promoting adherence to safety procedures and operational standards.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5+ years of CNC programming experience, including programming according to print utilizing CAD/CAM software.
  • At least 5+ years of experience performing setups, calibrations, and operating CNC routing equipment for production runs.
  • Proficiency in CNC machining, including experience with mills and lathes.
  • Experience programming and operating 5‑axis CNC machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, manufacturing specifications, and work orders.
  • Ability to perform accurate measurements using tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Supervisory experience overseeing machinists and operators in a production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality parts.
  • Ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and coordinate activities across multiple shifts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in environments with punch machines, drilling machines, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Experience working in aluminum extrusion manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with a variety of CNC equipment, including HAAS, Milltronics, and older style milling machines.
  • Comfort working in a high‑volume production environment with long production lines.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and other departments.

Work Environment

This role is based in an aluminum extrusion facility with active production lines and large CNC equipment. The environment can be hot and semi‑dirty, typical of a heavy manufacturing and machining setting. You work on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The facility houses a variety of CNC machines, including 5‑axis equipment, HAAS, Milltronics, and older milling machines, as well as other fabrication equipment. Team members should expect to wear appropriate industrial work attire suitable for a machining and fabrication environment and to follow all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.

This is a Permanent position based out of Mishawaka, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $70720.00/yr.
