Job summary

Aerotek seeks a Manufacturing Supervisor – CNC Operations to lead the CNC department, drive production goals, and promote continuous improvement. You will schedule, mentor staff, ensure quality and safety, manage budget and inventory, and coordinate with leadership for reliable, on-time production.

Strong CNC experience, blueprint literacy, and ability to implement manufacturing best practices are required. This onsite role is based in Watertown, SD, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • One to two years of CNC machining experience.
  • Experience with CNC machining operations and processes, including lathe and mill machining.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of tooling, inspection processes, and machining equipment.
  • Experience using manufacturing systems or production tracking software.
  • Demonstrated supervision and production supervision capabilities, including scheduling and production management.
  • Ability to promote and implement continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives.
  • Competence in blueprint reading and applying technical information to machining operations.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming or machine programming concepts.
  • Strong attention to quality, safety, and on-time production performance.

  • Ensure preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain reliability.
  • Mentor new employees in equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Identify defects and take corrective action; ensure adherence to standards.

Job Title: Manufacturing Supervisor – CNC Operations
Job Description

The Manufacturing Supervisor – CNC Operations provides hands-on leadership and direction for CNC department activities, ensuring production goals are met through effective scheduling, employee development, quality oversight, and continuous improvement. This role leads CNC machining operations, supports employee growth, manages resources, and collaborates with leadership to drive productivity, safety, and overall operational success.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example and promote cultural expectations related to Harmonized Manufacturing and all company policies.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives through Harmonized Manufacturing practices within the CNC department.
  • Read and analyze work orders, production schedules, and related records and reports to determine appropriate production requirements.
  • Drive achievement of corporate goals for on-time delivery, productivity, and quality, and actively promote customer satisfaction to employees.
  • Plan, establish, and adjust work schedules for CNC operators and other team members to meet production goals.
  • Partner with Shift Supervisors and appropriate management to address and resolve employee issues and complaints.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and administer disciplinary actions in alignment with company policies.
  • Monitor departmental budget diligently to ensure spending remains within monthly targets.
  • Oversee inventory and material control for the CNC machining department to support efficient operations.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance is performed on machining equipment to minimize downtime and maintain reliability.
  • Assume Shift Supervisor responsibilities as needed to meet production demand and coordinate operations and activities within and between departments and shifts.
  • Inspect materials, products, and equipment to identify defects or malfunctions and take corrective action.
  • Demonstrate equipment operations, work procedures, and safety practices to new employees, or assign new employees to experienced workers for on-the-job training.
  • Observe work being performed and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure operators adhere to production and processing standards.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for employees to ensure clear understanding of requirements.
  • Know and follow all environmental, health, and safety rules, policies, and procedures for the work area, and take responsibility for conducting personal work activities in a manner that does not compromise the safety of self or others.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Essential Skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical training in a related field preferred.
  • Related manufacturing experience considered in lieu of formal education; equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will also be considered.
  • Six months of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with tooling selection and optimization for CNC machining.
  • Exposure to production tracking system software and manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Harmonized Manufacturing practices.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining specifications, policies, and procedures to employees.
  • Ability to train and mentor new employees on equipment operation and safety procedures.

Work Environment

This role is performed in a manufacturing environment that requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling materials throughout the shift. The employee may occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The work area includes exposure to moving mechanical equipment, heat, vibration, noise, and airborne particles, consistent with CNC machining operations. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $64480.00 - $81120.00/yr.
