Job summary

John Crane, part of Smiths Group, is seeking a CNC Programmer/Operator to set up and program lathes and mills, ensuring tight tolerances and adherence to procedures. The role requires reading drawings, programming knowledge, and the ability to work with various metal materials.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of CNC experience, can operate at least two CNC tools, and comply with safety policies while maintaining quality and efficiency on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with a technical school education and working machinist knowledge or equivalent.
• Prefers Mill and Lathe experience.
• Minimum 3 years of CNC machine tool programming & operating experience.
• Numerical control machining skills and ability to read machine drawings.
• Can operate a minimum of 2 CNC machine tools.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, writes programs and edits existing programs for CNC machinery.
• Maintain quality and tolerances within .0003”.
• Follow procedures from routings, prints and instructions.
• Inspect work with micrometers and calipers to verify specs.
• Follow safety policies and report equipment issues.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
