Job summary

Smiths Group’s John Crane unit in Baton Rouge is seeking a CNC Programmer/Operator to set up, write programs and operate lathes, mills and drills to produce precision parts.

You will follow procedures, interpret drawings, and maintain tight tolerances (.0003 inches). A background in Mill and Lathe operations with 3–5 years' CNC programming/operating experience is required; day shift is 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with a technical school education and working machinist knowledge or equivalent.
• Prefers someone with Mill and Lathe experience.
• 3-5 years of CNC machine tool programming & operating experience.
• Numerical control machining skills experience and ability to read and interpret work related machine drawings.
• Make average to complicated mathematical calculations and resolve elementary technical problems.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, writes programs and edits existing programs, and operates numerically controlled machinery (lathes, mills, drills).
• Maintain quality and tolerances within .0003”.
