Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in a CAD/Drafting capacity preferred.
  • AA/BS degree (or equivalent) or College/Technical Certificate.
  • Machining and Tooling Experience: 5 years minimum (Required).
  • Mastercam Knowledge: 3+ years (Preferred).
  • Ability to read and write G-Code (Required).
  • CAD/CAM Knowledge: 3 years (Required).
  • Vocational or Bachelor's (Preferred).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Project management skills combined with ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and implement tool fixturing for Guitar Manufacturing Process.
  • Implement best practices for CNC processing of wood products.
  • Implement a training programs for new and current CNC operators.
  • Understand, track, and communicate facility CNC capacities and optimization.
  • Create and implement CNC change over, set-up, and quality checking instructions.
  • Create and manage a cutting tool replacement system and PM schedule.
  • Operate large and small machined parts using CNC & Manual Lathes, Vertical and Horizontal Boring Machines.

Job Summary

The overall purpose of the CNC Programmer is to provide CNC solutions and new technology introduction to current and new products. This includes understanding the Industrial Engineering impact of process flow and ROI. The CNC Engineer will develop and often create fixturing for both CNC and assembly processes. The CNC Programmer will be a component of the maintenance department and will work closely with the engineering, production, New Product Introduction, and maintenance functions on a day to day basis. They will own the task of producing safe, efficient, productive CNC code and new technology solutions to complex manufacturing processes.

Essential Functions
  • Design, fabricate, and implement tool fixturing for Guitar Manufacturing Process. This includes, but is not limited to, new product prototypes, general process improvements and new technology integration.
  • Implement best practices for CNC processing of wood products.
  • Implement a training programs for new and current CNC operators.
  • Understand, track, and communicate facility CNC capacities and optimization.
  • Create and implement CNC change over, set-up, and quality checking instructions.
  • Create and manage a cutting tool replacement system and PM schedule
  • Ability to produce both large & small machined parts using CNC & Manual Lathes, Vertical and Horizontal Boring Machines
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings & specifications
  • Study drawings, manuals, specifications and instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations and set-up requirements
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
  • Proofread all supplied documents for pertinent data to ensure all of the necessary information is present for down line processes before release for manufacture
  • Design plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Assist and perform preventative maintenance work on all CNC machines and areas where Maintenance Department lacks in knowledge, as necessary
  • Order tooling necessary for production processes as well as manage change outs of tooling to ensure quality within the facility is maintained
  • Knowledgeable in the capabilities of each of the machine tools in the facility
  • Adherence to the Gibson Cardinal Safety Rules as per the Gibson Playbook for Cardinal Safety Rules and General Safety Rules.
  • Obligation to submit safety observations for identified hazards using the safety observation QR code.
  • Support the comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure a safe work environment, maintain compliance with regulations, and improvement of our safety processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
