  • Adheres to department protocols (5S and Safety)

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of Milling is to inspect, prep, and combine raw wood to provide the best single unit materials to the body assembly and neckline processes. Team members are required to have a great attention to detail and intimate knowledge of the types, and properties of wood. Milling is where a Gibson Guitar begins, and is a vital process in the creation of a guitar that is both beautiful and has that distinct Gibson Sound.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Learn and execute standard operating procedures
  • Inspect raw wood material for cracks, pitch pockets, and grain defects
  • Utilize Opera 5 sander to produce units with optimal finish and thickness
  • Receive, organize, and label incoming shipments of raw material
  • 95% pass rate based on production requirements
