Job summary

JWC Machine and Fab in Mobile, AL is seeking a CNC Operator to support turning and milling operations. You will load/unload machines, run parts per setup sheets, and perform in-process inspections with calipers and micrometers.

You will monitor machines for issues, report wear or defects, and assist with setups while maintaining a clean, safe work area. Must have 1+ year of experience and be reliable.

Qualifications

• 1+ year in a CNC machining or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Able to read basic engineering drawings and understand tolerances.
• Comfort with calipers and micrometers for measurement.
• Keen eye for detail; able to spot nonconforming parts.
• Reliable, punctual, focused during repetitive production tasks.
• Note: NIMS credentials, technical school training, or SkillsUSA machining experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and cycle CNC mills and lathes following setup sheets and job travelers.
• Conduct basic in-process checks using calipers, micrometers, and go/no-go gauges.
• Monitor machines for abnormal noise, vibration, or quality drift; escalate immediately.
• Report tooling wear, broken tools, and part issues to a lead machinist or supervisor.
• Assist with setups: work-holding, tooling changes, and material staging.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the shift.
• Accurately track part counts and complete production documentation.
• Follow all shop safety policies and wear required PPE at all times.
