Job summary

PPS-HPS in Cleveland is seeking a CNC machinist focused on turning and milling, with responsibilities to set up and run CNC lathes and mills, manage tool selection, and ensure parts meet drawings. Qualifications

• Certificate from college or technical school preferred.
• 1 year or less of related experience or training.
• Ability to interpret verbal and written directions.
• Strong math skills and mechanical inclination.
• Experience reading measuring devices (micrometers, calipers) and calculating feeds/speeds.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe machinery.
• Set up and operate CNC milling machinery.
• Familiar with macro programming.
• Inspect parts to print, identify flaws, deburr as needed.
• Interpret drawings, process sheets, and shop orders to plan work.
• Select tools from tool crib and verify tool accuracy.
• Determine operation sequences from drawings and instructions.
• Calculate tool depth and adjustments.
• Move finished material to next workstation.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

As a CNC Turning/Milling set up and production operator at your focus will be to:

• Set up to operate CNC Lathe machinery
• Set Up Operate CNC milling machinery
• Familiar with Macro programming.
• Inspect product to print, looking for any flaws and defect of material, including deburring if necessary.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, process sheets, program readouts and shop orders to plan and check work.
• Obtain proper set of tools from tool crib, select insert types, and check tools for accuracy.
• Interpret drawings, route sheets, diagrams, specifications and instructions to determine proper operation sequences.
• Make necessary calculations for tool depth and tool adjustments.
• Move completed material to next workstation.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.

Education and Experience Requirements

• One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
• 6 months – 1-year related experience or training.
• Ability to interpret and understand verbal and written directions.
• Mechanically inclined with strong math skills.
• Ability to read basic measuring devices, including micrometers, and calipers. Working knowledge and experienced in calculating feeds and speeds.
• Willing to complete a blueprint reading course.
