Job summary

Modern Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Mill Machinist for a first-shift, on-site role in Phoenix, AZ. Schedule runs Monday through Thursday, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a $4,000 sign-on bonus paid in two installments.

Position requires reading drawings, setting feeds and speeds, and inspecting parts for tolerances. Ideal candidates hold a HS diploma (or equivalent), about 2 years in a related field, and experience with 5S/Lean, blueprint reading, and basic measurement tools.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; 2 years of relevant field experience preferred.
• 5S and Lean Manufacturing training.
• Basic blueprint reading.
• Documentation and Modern’s Production System knowledge.
• Inspection techniques for machinists; SPC charts and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Loads, unloads, starts, and stops machines.
• Sets feeds and speeds for machining processes.
• Monitors gauges and indicators to ensure quality.
• Detects dull tools and excessive vibration during operation.
• Measures finished parts to spec with precision tools.
• Calculates machine movements per drawing specs.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Description

***Monday - Thursday 5am - 3:30pm***

*** Effective July 7, 2026 Sign-On Bonus: $4000. Paid out: 1st half 30 days, and 2nd half in 60 days once on Modern's payroll.***

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Loads, Unloads, Starts, and Stops Machines.
• Sets the feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.
• Watches gauges, dials, and other key indicators to make sure machines are working properly and work-pieces meet quality standards.
• Monitors machines during operation in order to detect dull cutting tools and excessive vibration.
• Measures dimensions of finished work-pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
• Calculates and sets machine movements according to drawing specs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic hand tools, including their uses and maintenance.
• Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions.
• Ability to control the operations of machining equipment and systems.
• Basic mathematics knowledge, particularly Trigonometry.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent. 2 years of experience in relevant field preferred.
• 5S and Lean Manufacturing training.
• Basic Blueprint Reading.
• Documentation and Modern’s Production System.
• Inspection Techniques for Machinists. SPC Charts and Tools. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Adjusting Boring heads.
