Job summary

Ascential Technologies Burke Porter in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a CNC Machinist Team Lead to oversee a machining team while hands-on operating CNC and manual equipment to produce precision components. You will review blueprints, set up machines, and ensure part quality through precise measurement and analysis.

The role requires 3–5 years of CNC machining experience, leadership aptitude, and familiarity with Mazatrol or Fanuc controls.

Qualifications

3-5 years of experience as a skilled CNC machinist or journey-level machinist.
Experience leading or mentoring employees is preferred.
CNC programming experience with Mazatrol and/or Fanuc is preferred.
Strong knowledge of machining practices, tooling, setup, feeds, speeds, and cutting techniques.
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Strong shop math skills including GD&T.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment to produce precision components.
Review blueprints and process sheets to determine machining requirements and tooling.
Position and secure workpieces; establish machine settings and adjust as needed.
Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and dial indicators.
Provide hands-on guidance and troubleshooting for machining setups and quality concerns.
Train and mentor employees to promote quality and safety.
Participate in interviewing and selecting machining staff.
