Job summary

Burke Porter, Grand Rapids, MI, seeks a CNC Machinist Team Lead to perform precision machining and lead the machining team. The role blends hands-on work with supervisory duties. You will set up Mazak and other equipment, review blueprints and specs, and ensure components meet tight tolerances.

You will train and mentor operators, participate in hiring, and collaborate with management on safety and quality initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as a skilled CNC machinist or equivalent.
• Experience leading, training or mentoring employees.
• CNC programming experience with Mazatrol and/or Fanuc preferred.
• Strong knowledge of machining practices, tooling and setups.
• Ability to read complex blueprints and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual machines to meet specs and tolerances.
• Review blueprints and process sheets to determine operations and tooling.
• Position and secure workpieces, select tooling, and adjust machine settings.
• Inspect work with micrometers, calipers, and gauges for quality.
• Lead machining team, assign work, and support production schedules.
