Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a CNC Machinist III to join its manufacturing team in Austin. You will set up and operate CNC equipment, producing precision components for satellite and aerospace platforms.

You will troubleshoot issues, verify parts to drawings, and collaborate across manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to meet quality standards and delivery goals. The role requires 3–5 years of CNC machining experience, knowledge of GD&T, tooling, and proficiency with measurement instruments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in CNC machining or related field.
• 3–5 years of CNC machining or related production experience.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, GD&T, and shop math.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and set-up techniques.
• Experience with MES/ERP systems and manufacturing software.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision components using approved programs and tooling.
• Perform offsets, tooling adjustments, and setup optimization for production
• Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and productivity.
• Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators.
• Verify parts meet drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and quality standards.
• Document inspection results and production data in records.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production activities.
• Support new product introductions, tooling improvements, and preventive maintenance.
• Provide guidance on machining practices and safety procedures.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas and support 5S/continuous improvement.
