Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a CNC Machinist III to set up and operate CNC machines, producing precision components for space and airborne platforms. You will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, quality, production control, and supply chain teams to ensure high-quality parts.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or technical certification in CNC machining, 3–5 years of experience, and familiarity with Haas, Fanuc, Mazatrol, Siemens controls, and MES/ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in CNC machining or related field.
• 3–5 years of related CNC machining or production experience.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, GD&T, and shop mathematics.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and setup techniques.
• Experience with CNC controls and manufacturing software (Haas, Fanuc, Mazatrol, Siemens).
• Experience with MES/ERP systems (Epicor, SAP, Solumina).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines to manufacture complex precision components using approved programs, tooling, fixtures, and procedures.
• Perform machine offsets, tooling adjustments, program verification, and setup optimization.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and productivity.
• Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools.
• Verify completed parts meet GD&T requirements, specifications, and tolerances.
• Document inspection results and production data in manufacturing records.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams supporting production activities.
• Support new product introductions, tooling improvements, and process improvements.
• Provide guidance on machining practices, equipment operation, and safety.
