Job summary

Axius Group is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist contractor in Wichita, KS to set up and run CNC machines to produce high-precision aerospace components. You will read blueprints, interpret CAD models, and select tooling, speeds, and feeds to achieve tight tolerances.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of experience in aerospace machining, proficiency with G-code, and familiarity with Mastercam, CATIA or Siemens NX.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years experience as a CNC Machinist in high-precision aerospace or related components.
• Experience in CNC machine setup, operation, and programming is required.
• Proficiency with 3-5 axis CNC machines; aerospace machining experience preferred.
• Familiarity with aerospace materials (titanium, aluminum, stainless steel) and their machining requirements.

Responsibilities

• Program (if required), set up, and operate CNC machines per drawings.
• Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and documents for operations and tooling.
• Select tooling, speeds, and feeds for efficiency and precision.
• Perform first article inspections and in-process quality checks.
• Troubleshoot tooling or setup issues to minimize downtime.
• Adjust settings and offsets to maintain tight tolerances.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes.
• Document setups, dimensions, and tool usage for repeatability.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CNC machines.
