Job summary

Protolabs is seeking a CNC Machinist I to join our team on the FLEX shift (Fri - Sun, 6 am–6 pm). The role involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling and lathe machines to produce precision prototype and production parts.

You will use Mastercam and CAD/CAM tools to optimize setups, collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams, and contribute to continuous improvement while upholding quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a CNC Milling or CNC lathe operator with setup and some programming knowledge.
• Familiarity with prototype manufacturing machining and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC milling or CNC lathe machines and run jobs meeting tight specs.
• Prepare CAM files from CAD, prints, and verbal instruction.
• Provide quick turnaround of parts and accuracy within established guidelines.
• Maintain organization of jobs and material inventory.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance on milling or lathe machines and shop equipment.
• Perform thorough part inspections and decisions on quality requirements.
• Ensure jobs are run in a timely manner to meet on-time delivery.
• Adhere to quality and safety standards within the department.
• Support daily production by identifying solutions for chronic issues.
• Complete operator PMs during shift.
