Job summary

LifePort in Woodland, WA offers an Apprenticeship to become a qualified journey-level Machinist. You’ll learn on CNC machines with on-the-job training and related instruction with Lower Columbia College.

Day shift hours are 6:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Thursday. You’ll start by observing, inspecting parts, and learning G/M codes while following all safety guidelines and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
• Informs lead person of discrepancies and inspects first part run.
• Meets job standard times with minimal supervision.
• Recognizes production problems and informs supervisor.
• Understands basic machine language (G and M codes).
• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools.
• Reads and interprets manufacturing/Engineering drawings.
• Performs miscellaneous duties in the machine shop as directed.
• Follows all safety guidelines and uses equipment properly.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview:

Through this Apprenticeship you will learn manufacturing skills, get working knowledge and experience on a variety of CNC machines and controls. The apprentice shall receive on the job training as well as related supplemental instruction with our partners at Lower Columbia College to become a qualified journey-level Machinist.

LifePort Machinist Duties and Responsibilities:

Apprentice Program Minimum Qualifications:

Age: Minimum of 18 years of age.

Education: Applicant shall be a high school graduate or equivalent and provide proof of educational attainment through such means as diploma, transcripts, or official GED or High School Equivalency test results.

Physical: Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the occupation with or without reasonable accommodation and without endangering the safety or health of co-workers.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.

All employees are expected to adhere to Company safety policies and wear personal protective equipment when exposed to work areas or performing tasks where it is required.
