Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Colorado Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist 2nd Shift to join our Colorado Springs, CO location. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of precision machining experience on CNC Mills & CNC Lathes and be capable of reading engineering drawings and programming/setup experience.

You will operate CNC lathes primarily, with backup on CNC mills and other manual equipment, set up and run machines, and verify tolerances using fixtures and gauges in a fast-paced aerospace

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of precision machining experience on CNC Mills & CNC Lathes.
• Intermediate knowledge of shop math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings as well as understand basic work instructions for product fabrication.
• General knowledge with hand and power tools including deburring tools and wrenches.
• Proficiency with precision measuring and fixed gauge equipment (micrometers, calipers, electronic height gauges).
• Able to lift a minimum of 35+ pounds and work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings and set up/run CNC lathes (primarily) with backup for CNC mills and manual equipment.
• Set up and operate multiple machines producing precision finished goods within print tolerances.
• Use fixtures or gauges to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Experience with large aerospace components from exotic materials is a plus.
• 5-axis and/or mill-turn experience.
• Work in a fast-paced environment across different projects with minimal supervision.
