About the Opportunity

First Call Direct Hire is recruiting for CNC Machinists for a well-established company in Indianapolis, IN. This position is for 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM, Monday–Friday, with overtime availability. This employer is known for its commitment to precision, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement. The team works in a clean, climate-controlled facility and takes pride in delivering top-quality components with accuracy and care. The client is looking for experience with metal materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.).

Position Summary

We are looking for experienced CNC Machinists to operate and set up CNC lathes or mills to produce high-precision components. This is a strong opportunity for candidates who value safety, quality, and a team-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes or milling machines to meet blueprint specifications
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols
• Use precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and height gages
• Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and minor program edits
• Monitor part quality and surface finish to meet high standards
• Conduct first article and in-process inspections
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following safety and 5S guidelines
• Collaborate with quality and engineering teams on troubleshooting and improvements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• CNC machining experience (less than 3 years considered)
• Proficiency in the setup and operation of CNC lathes and/or mills
• Familiarity with Fanuc, Okuma, or Heidenhain controls
• Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints
• Strong understanding of GD&T and shop math
• Skilled in using precision measuring tools
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and a team player

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-precision machining
• Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems
• Ability to edit G-code
• Willingness to work overtime
• Forklift or crane certification is a plus
