Job summary

CoWorx Staffing Services is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator to join our Westford manufacturing team. This hands-on role focuses on setting up CNC lathes, verifying programs, tooling, and achieving tight tolerances for precision components.

The ideal candidate will read blueprints, work from travelers and specs, perform first-piece inspections, and collaborate with Quality to ensure the highest quality while maintaining a safe, efficient production environment.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of CNC lathe setup experience.
• Strong blueprint reading skills.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and gauges.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of shop math and machining calculations.
• Ability to perform first-piece inspections and adjustments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC lathe machines for production per requirements and quality standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, travelers, and specs for accuracy.
• Load and verify CNC programs for repeat jobs and correct revisions.
• Install and adjust tooling, collets, and related equipment as required.
• Adjust machine settings to optimize quality and efficiency.
• Perform first-piece inspections using micrometers and gauges.
• Collaborate with Quality and Production to meet dimensional and customer requirements.
• Provide technical support to operators and contribute to process improvements.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment according to safety policies.

Location: Westford, Massachusetts

CoWorx Staffing Services is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator to join our growing manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role for a skilled machinist who enjoys setting up CNC lathe equipment, troubleshooting machining processes, and producing high-quality precision components. The ideal candidate will have strong blueprint reading skills, experience working with tight tolerances, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC lathe machines for the production of metallic and non-metallic components in accordance with production requirements and quality standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, travelers, sketches, and engineering specifications to ensure accurate machine setup and operation.
• Load and verify CNC programs for repeat production jobs, ensuring correct revision levels are used.
• Install and adjust tooling, collets, bushings, stock pushers, and related equipment as required for production.
• Adjust machine settings, feeds, speeds, tool offsets, and other parameters to optimize product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
• Perform first-piece inspections using micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
• Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to ensure parts meet dimensional, quality, and customer requirements.
• Provide technical support to machine operators and contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and quality.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to company safety policies and procedures.

Desired Background/Skills

• Three or more years of CNC lathe setup experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, gauges, and related inspection tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of shop math, machining calculations, and measurement conversions preferred.
• Ability to perform first-piece inspections and make program or tooling adjustments as needed to ensure product quality and dimensional accuracy.
