Job summary

Software Placement Group is seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Programmer / Setup Technician in North Easton, MA. The role focuses on maintaining precision machining quality while mentoring operators in a family-owned environment.

You will review blueprints, develop CNC programs, set up Citizen and Star Swiss-type lathes, verify first-piece inspections, and lead process control documentation under strict revision control. Strong CAD/CAM and GD&T skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years setting up and operating Citizen and Star Swiss-type CNC lathes.
• Expertise in blueprint reading, GD&T, cutting tools, speeds/feeds, work holding, and inspection practices.
• Strong mathematical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in CNC programming and CAD/CAM software.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints and GD&T to determine machining methods.
• Develop, prove out, and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software.
• Set up tooling, work holding, offsets, and machine adjustments on Citizen and Star Swiss-type lathes.
• Verify setups through first-piece inspection and measurement.
• Create and maintain setup sheets, approved CNC programs, and process-control documentation under strict revision control.
• Diagnose and resolve machining, tooling, and programming issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance, monitor supply needs, and order replacement tooling.
• Train and mentor junior operators, setup personnel, and interns.
• Communicate process changes, irregularities, and corrective actions to management.
• Maintain clean, orderly work areas and adhere to ISO quality, ITAR, CMMC, information security, and workplace safety regulations.

Location: North Easton, MA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, 1st Shift, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM | Compensation: $42.00 – $50.00 / hour

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status required due to Federal/Government Contractor Regulations
• Ability to stand regularly and move throughout the work area
• Ability to handle small parts and tools, and lift/move items weighing up to 40 pounds
• Sufficient visual acuity (with or without correction) to read technical drawings, operate controls, and inspect fine surface/dimensional details

Preferred qualifications

• ESPRIT programming experience highly desirable
• Vocational, technical, apprenticeship, or machining-program training preferred
