Job summary

Cypress HCM is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Setup/Operator for 1st or 2nd shift in our metal fabrication facility in Illinois. You will set up and operate CNC lathes to produce precision components, interpret blueprints, GD&T, and routings, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances.

The role requires at least 5 years of CNC lathe setup/operation experience, proficiency with inspection tools like micrometers and calipers, and the ability to read blueprints and calculate speeds/feeds.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of CNC lathe setup and operating experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
• Proficiency with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers).
• Capable of calculating speeds and feeds for various materials.
• Ability to hold tight tolerances (±0.0005).

CNC Lathe Setup/Operator - 1st OR 2nd Shift

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing Metal Fabrication Company as a Lathe Set-up/Operator. The company is dedicated to having an amazing culture and keeping their employees happy.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision machined components.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, job routings, and GD&T to plan machining operations.
• Perform complete machine setups, including selecting and installing workholding, tooling, and fixtures.
• Calculate appropriate speeds and feeds for a variety of materials to optimize machining performance.
• Produce parts that consistently meet tight tolerances of ±0.0005 inches.
• Inspect finished parts throughout the machining process using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other inspection equipment.
• Monitor machining operations and make machine adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot machining issues by taking measurements, adjusting machine controls, and identifying problems with tooling or machining processes.
• Select and apply the appropriate cutting tools and tooling strategies for different materials and machining applications.
• Maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail while meeting production requirements.
• Work safely and effectively as part of a team to support production goals and deliver high-quality products to customers.

Requirements And Desired Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of CNC lathe setup and operating experience. (G-Code, Mazatrol is a plus)
• Proficient at using inspection equipment. (Micrometers, Calipers, etc.)
• Knowledge of tooling and different applications to apply.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to do setups required to complete the part, including work holding.
• Ability to calculate speeds and feeds for a variety of materials.
• Must be able to hold tight tolerances. (+/- .0005)
• Use blueprints, specifications, job routings, geometric dimensions, and tolerances to plan daily machining.
• Great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude.
• Ability to detect and trouble shoot problems by taking measurements, adjusting controls, closely monitoring drilling, and cutting.

Pay Rate (DOE): $25-35/hr +
