Job summary

Industrial Fabricators, Inc. in Gastonia, NC, is seeking an experienced Laser Programmer to join our manufacturing team on-site.

You will create and optimize CNC laser cutting programs and nesting layouts for precision sheet metal parts, working from engineering drawings, CAD files, and customer specifications to meet quality and production targets. The ideal candidate has hands-on CAD/CAM programming experience, with strong knowledge of CNC laser cutting, nesting, and sheet metal fabrication.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in CNC programming, laser programming, or CAD/CAM programming.
• Experience creating CNC laser cutting programs and nesting layouts.
• Proficiency with SigmaNEST, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar CAD/CAM software.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications; knowledge of sheet metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC laser cutting programs using CAD/CAM software.
• Develop and optimize nesting layouts to maximize material utilization and minimize scrap.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD files, and technical specifications to create accurate production programs.
• Determine appropriate cutting sequences, tooling strategies, material types, and machine parameters based on part requirements.
• Prepare and release CNC programs and related production files for laser cutting operations.
• Review programs and conduct test runs or first-piece checks to verify dimensional accuracy and product quality.
• Troubleshoot programming issues and make adjustments to improve cutting quality, efficiency, and cycle times.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues and support production goals.
• Maintain accurate programming files, revisions, and related documentation.
• Follow established quality, safety, and production procedures.
