CNC Grinder Specialist – 1st Shift, Precision Setup

Job summary

FM Industries in Phoenix, AZ seeks a skilled CNC Machinist II for 1st shift to set up and operate CNC grinding centers. You will read drawings, apply GD&T, and ensure parts meet specs with calibrated tools.

Responsibilities include in-process checks, tool program handling, and following 6S and lean practices. Strong precision, communication, and ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years CNC experience in a manufacturing environment; OR, 2 years CNC experience with certificates of completion for machining levels 1 & 2 and an AS in Manufacturing and Production Technology.
• Ability to read part drawings, apply GD&T concepts and rules to understand geometric requirements.
• Ability to set-up jobs independently.
• Ability to read and interpret measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, thread gauges and more.
• Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing; 6S concepts preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate CNC Grinder for production operation.
• Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust controls as needed.
• Responsible for DNC communications, downloading tool programs.
• Inspect and measure parts according to setup book inspection callouts.
• Monitor and dress wheels; document wheel changes and dresses.
• Ensure company procedures and best machining practices are followed.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
• Comply with environmental, health and safety laws and company policies.
