Job summary

Shibaura Machine Company of America is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machine tools at customer sites across a multi-state region. You will diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems, perform alignments, and support calibration and system integration.

The role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, strong customer interaction, and timely service delivery, with extensive travel and remote support when off-site.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or 3–5 years of equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of CNC machine tools.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder diagrams
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 90% within a multi-state region, by car or air
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record; passport for international travel

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to diagnose and resolve machine tool issues, including troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, programming support, and customer training
• Install and commission machine tools, including alignment, calibration, and system integration
• Perform preventive maintenance and recommend improvements to enhance machine reliability and service life
• Respond rapidly to urgent service calls and critical machine failures to minimize customer downtime
• Provide telephone and remote technical support when not on-site
• Complete detailed service reports, diagnostics documentation, and provide technical feedback to engineering teams
• Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements
• Any other duties and tasks, consistent with your abilities, which may be assigned.
