Job summary

Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for our Med/Surg team in Granite City, IL. This full-time position supports daily patient care under R.N. supervision and offers a structured day shift from 7:00 a.m.

to 7:00 p.m., 36 hours per week. Ideal candidates hold an Illinois CNA license, BLS, and a high school diploma or GED, with prior healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or GED.
• Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant course.
• Previous CNA or healthcare experience preferred.
• New graduates and newly certified CNAs are welcome to apply.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
• Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under the direction of nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
• Assist with repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and mobility.
• Obtain and document vital signs and other patient information as directed.
• Monitor patients and promptly report changes in condition to the appropriate nursing staff.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable patient environment.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed.
• Answer patient call lights and respond to patient needs in a timely manner.
• Assist nurses and other members of the healthcare team with patient care activities.
• Provide compassionate and respectful care while maintaining patient dignity and privacy.
• Follow infection prevention, safety, HIPAA, and hospital policies and procedures.
• Accurately document care provided according to established guidelines.
• Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.
