Job summary

The Good Samaritan Society in De Smet, SD is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) to provide resident-centered care in a long-term care setting. The NA will work a full-time 40-hour week, day shifts, and assist with daily living activities under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with bathing, grooming, vital signs, mobility, meals, and documentation. A CNA certification is required, with facility-provided training and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• CNA training and certification required and provided by facility.
• Completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains CE credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
• Where applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
• May be classified as Sanford Category II Driver depending on responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• The Nursing Assistant serves as caregiver to residents during scheduled work periods in long-term care.
• Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under RN supervision.
• Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
• Assist with transfers, range of motion, and mobility using proper techniques.
• Assist with meals, hydration, and dining experiences for residents.
• Support care teams, communicate changes to charge nurse, and participate in wellness programs.
