Job summary

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME is seeking a part-time Nursing Assistant to support the Medical Surgical Unit under nursing supervision. You will perform routine patient care tasks such as feeding, bathing, dressing, and linen changes, and assist with transfers and transports as needed.

Current MAINE CNA certification is required, with BLS to be obtained prior to patient care. Prior healthcare experience is preferred; the role offers a stable schedule and opportunities

Qualifications

• Current MAINE CNA certification is required.
• BLS certification to be obtained prior to caring for patients and kept current.
• 1 year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and interacts with patients and families, physicians, peers and other health care members to maximize successful customer outcomes and maximize function of the unit.
• Precepts team members to job function
• Orients patient to hospital environment and routine.
• Documents all aspects of patient care in a timely manner.
• Participates in unit quality improvement initiatives.
• Communicates appropriate information and patient needs to oncoming staff at change of shift and to RN in a timely manner for follow up.
• Provides care in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
• Label and Delivers specimens per policy.
• Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
• May perform other duties upon request.
