Job summary

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME is seeking a Full Time Nursing Support (CNA) to provide direct and indirect patient care under nursing supervision. The role supports routine activities and patient comfort, including feeding, bathing, dressing, linen changes, and patient transport as needed.

Eligible candidates must be Maine-registered CNAs with BLS or the ability to obtain it prior to caring for patients, and have at least six months within the current organization.

Qualifications

• Must be currently registered as a CNA in Maine.
• BLS certification to be obtained prior to patient care and kept current.
• Employed for a minimum of 6 months within current organization.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and interacts with patients and families, physicians, peers and other health care members to maximize successful customer outcomes and unit function.
• Precepts team members to job function.
• Orients patient to hospital environment and routine.
• Attends and serves on one-unit committee or educational peer opportunity to improve quality and/or engagement.
• Documents all aspects of patient care in a timely manner.
• Participates in unit quality improvement initiatives.
• Communicates information and patient needs to oncoming staff at shift change and to RN for follow up.
• Provides care in accordance with the patient’s plan of care.
• Label and deliver specimens per policy.
• Maintains a safe environment complying with policies and reports hazards and violations of safety protocol.
• Other duties as requested.
