Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Roanoke, VA is seeking a compassionate CNA/Direct Care Giver to assist residents with daily living activities and support their independence. You will work as part of a nursing team, maintain confidentiality, and promote a safe, respectful environment.

Responsibilities include helping residents with meals, mobility, and daily routines; reporting changes, completing documentation, and participating in activities and family communications.

Qualifications

• Must possess current CNA license from the state where Harmony operates and be in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
• Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow the supervisor's instructions.
• Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs.
• Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents with proper body mechanics.
• Must wear designated uniform during working hours, including name badge and a smile.
• Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
• Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
• Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with activities of daily living and daily living tasks to support independence.
• Performs housekeeping duties such as making beds and cleaning apartments and common areas as directed.
• Responds promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergencies and documents appropriately.
• Reports incidents and care concerns to the appropriate staff and documents changes in logs.
• Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents and supports move-in transitions.
• Communicates status and important information to team, families, and admissions as needed.
