Job summary

Kindred Hospital Melbourne and ARU in Melbourne, Florida, seeks a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff in patient care for an extended recovery setting. You will assist with daily living activities, provide personal care and help with basic clinical tasks under supervision.

The role emphasizes patient comfort, timely vital signs, room preparation, and collaboration with the care team in a 58-bed hospital plus LTAC and ARU units.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Must have good and regular attendance.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Able to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and function under stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist professional nursing personnel in providing patient care in assigned area.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide personal care.
• Take and record vital signs and intake/output accurately and document.
• Prepare patient rooms and ensure cleanliness and readiness for admissions/transfers.
• Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge procedures and care of patient belongings.
• Respond to patient call lights, telephone, and paging system promptly.
• Under RN direction, perform routine treatments as applicable.
• Release and apply restraints under RN supervision as needed.
• Assist RN/LVN/LPN with complex patient treatments.
• Serve and remove patient meal trays and assist with feeding.
