Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an associate to join its finance group, with a focus on CMBS transactions. This position is open to all U.S. offices, including the Fort Lauderdale area, and offers a hybrid work arrangement.

The role emphasizes legal research, writing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to execute complex commercial real estate finance deals. Minimum qualifications include a JD and at least 2 years of law firm experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities will vary based on experience and practice group, but include legal research and writing to support transactions.
• Draft and edit legal documents such as briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
• Assist/manage complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution including closings and negotiations.
• Build and maintain internal and external client relationships with timely updates and professional communication.
• Collaborate with lawyers and business professionals to develop strategies for favorable outcomes.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, negotiations, and trials as needed.
• Ensure compliance with legal standards and stay updated on law and precedents.
• Proactively pursue ongoing training to enhance legal knowledge and leadership skills.
• Engage in firm programs and pro bono work.
