Job summary

Amazon CloudFront is seeking an experienced Systems Development Engineer to design, build, and automate complex systems across Linux bare metal servers. You will own availability, security, and performance from OS to hardware, and scale lifecycle processes for efficiency and fault tolerance.

The role emphasizes automating deployments, patching, upgrades, and maintaining continuous service while collaborating with software engineers and principal engineers to grow a global business at scale.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.
• Experience with Linux/Unix.
• Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, secure, implement, code, automate, deploy, and root-cause complex system issues accross many different types of Linux bare metal servers.
• Own the availability, security, and performance of everything Operating system downwards, including the hardware, firmware, and components.
• Automate and scale our the hardware lifecycle process to be efficient, durable, and fault tolerant.
• Ensure our servers are properly provisioned, patched, upgraded, and in service all the time.
