Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a System Development Engineer for AWS CloudFront. You will design, build and automate hardware provisioning and tooling to ensure reliability, security and massive scale across global infrastructure.

You will work with software engineers and principal engineers to keep latency low and throughput high. You will own the hardware lifecycle, automate provisioning, patching and upgrades, and root-cause complex system issues across Linux servers.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ years designing or architecting systems (reliability & scaling).
• 7+ years admin experience in networking, storage, OS and hands-on systems engineering.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, OS).
• Experience in programming with modern languages: C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.
• Experience with Linux/Unix.
• Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, secure, implement, code, automate, deploy and root-cause complex system issues across Linux bare metal servers.
• Own availability, security and performance of OS downward, incl. hardware and firmware.
• Automate and scale the hardware lifecycle process to be efficient, durable and fault-tolerant.
• Ensure servers are provisioned, patched, upgraded and in service at all times.
