Job summary

Amazon CloudFront’s Engineering team at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to build and automate hardware provisioning platforms, improving reliability and scalability for a global, low-latency CDN.

You will own the security and performance of Linux servers, patching and upgrading hardware, and collaborating with software developers and principal engineers to deliver production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ years of designing or architecting scalable systems.
• 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.
• Experience with Linux/Unix.
• Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• The System Development Engineer will design, build, secure, implement, code, automate, deploy, and root-cause complex system issues accross many different types of Linux bare metal servers.
• You will own the availability, security, and performance of everything Operating system downwards, including the hardware, firmware, and components.
• You will automate and scale our the hardware lifecycle process to be efficient, durable, and fault tolerant.
• You will ensure our servers are properly provisioned, patched, upgraded, and in service all the time.
