Job summary

The Nuclear Company, a fast-growing AI-driven startup in the nuclear and energy space, seeks a Director of Cloud & Security Engineering to own cloud strategy, security architecture, identity, threat detection, and incident response across Azure and AWS. You’ll lead a small senior team while remaining hands-on as an escalation point.

You will manage demand intake, rolling roadmaps, and security governance with IT and business units, plus guardrails for AI tools and vendor contracts.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in security and/or network engineering with leadership experience.
• Cloud engineering and security depth across Microsoft Azure and AWS.
• Experience with identity security: privileged access, MFA, conditional access.
• Experience building incident response programs and remediation SLAs.

Responsibilities

• Own cloud and security engineering standards across Azure and AWS.
• Direct identity security, threat detection, incident response, and governance.
• Drive vulnerability management and provide audit-ready technical evidence.
• Govern SaaS security posture and enable AI tools with guardrails.
• Lead intake of business demand and align roadmaps with budgets.
