Job summary

BackOps AI, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, seeks an engineering leader to run the Infrastructure and Security team. You will own reliability and security posture as the company scales, building a high-performing team and aligning security with engineering workflows.

You will drive multi-cloud/on-prem deployments, SLOs, private networking, identity access controls, and SOC 2 compliance. This role emphasizes hands-on leadership, risk mitigation, and strong cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years managing engineers with hands-on infra/security background.
• Deep grounding in cloud-native architecture (AWS and/or GCP, Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD).
• Real depth in security engineering: identity/access, least-privilege, secrets, vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing team of infrastructure and security engineers.
• Own our multi-cloud and on-prem deployment, reliability/SLOs, private networking, and cost.
• Own security posture: identity, least-privilege, secrets management, vulnerability management, SOC 2 controls.
• Integrate security into CI/CD with guardrails and paved roads for teams.
• Set high standards for done: tested code, observability, operational readiness, runbooks.
