Job summary

Nordic Semiconductor is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Cloud Platform team, blending people leadership with deep technical ownership to guide the nRF Cloud backend.

You will drive reliability, scalability, and security across a platform ingesting data from millions of IoT devices daily, while shaping roadmaps and collaborating with Product, Security, and Field Engineering teams to align work with customer needs and business goals.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with at least 1 year of engineering management experience.
• Hands-on technically while leading a team, including code reviews and architecture decisions.
• Deep familiarity with AWS (EKS, RDS, S3, EC2, ECS).
• Relational database experience with PostgreSQL, including design, optimization, and operational concerns.
• Proficiency in backend programming with Python, Kotlin, and/or TypeScript.
• Strong Kubernetes experience for production workloads.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools and improving reliability.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Own the nRF Cloud platform, scale a system handling data from millions of IoT devices.
• Own team productivity by removing blockers and shaping workflows.
• Build a healthy team culture with clear expectations and feedback.
• Contribute technically through architecture, code reviews, and debugging production issues.
• Define and evolve the cloud platform roadmap with fast, informed iterations.
• Champion observability with meaningful metrics, logs, alerts, and healthy on-call rotations.
• Partner with Product, Go-To-Market, Security to align work with customer needs.
• Hire well and own the hiring process for the team.
• Represent the team across the organization with clear communication.
