WHAT IS THE POSITION

As a Cloud Operations Manager, you will lead a cloud operations team consisting of Systems Administrators and Cloud Engineers. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of Edmentum’s cloud infrastructure, integrations, services, and platforms. This position requires a deep-seated understanding of technical intricacies, a track record of effective leadership, and an unwavering commitment to propelling advancements in cloud technologies.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

Team Leadership:
• Manage and mentor a team of Systems Administrators and Cloud Engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Cloud Strategy:
• Assist in the development and implementation of cloud strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring scalability and efficiency.

Operational Oversight:
• Oversee daily cloud operations, including monitoring, incident management, and performance tuning.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of cloud operations.
• Ensure the implementation of enterprise-level life-cycle management for production systems and deliver maximum availability and reliability.
• Manage and participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical incident resolution and ensure system uptime.

Security Management:
• Advise and assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive information security policies and procedures across cloud environments.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices, implementing measures to protect cloud resources.


Cost Management:
• Monitor cloud spending and optimize resource allocation to reduce costs while maintaining performance.
• Advise on departmental budgets and deliver projects against those budgets.

Collaboration:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and infrastructure changes.
• Manage and support escalations of tickets and incidents.

Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within cloud operations.


WHAT IS REQUIRED

Key Skills:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in cloud operations or a similar role
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud architecture
• Proven experience in managing and leading technical teams
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Professional experience designing proven IT architectures
• Experience with automation tools and scripting languages
• Proficiency with IaC tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and similar technologies
• An in-depth knowledge of networking principles and protocols
• Experience with IT architecture (Microsoft, AWS, and similar technologies)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Maintain working knowledge of industry, market, and competitive landscape
• Fosters a culture of inclusion and cross-functional collaboration
• Demonstrates integrity, ethics, and a commitment to Edmentum’s mission and values

Preferred Skills:
• Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect)
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools
• Knowledge of security standards and frameworks (NIST/SOC II)
• Experience within a SaaS-based business, preferably EdTech

Pay range for this role:

$130,000 - $160,000 USD

Actual compensation will be determined based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill sets. All compensation decisions are individualized and based on the specific circumstances of each candidate.
