Job summary

Florida Blue is seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer to own ongoing operational work for AWS workloads, building automation to minimize headcount growth as the estate scales.

In this role, you will implement monitoring, automation for patching and backups, disaster recovery runbooks, and on-call incident response, all while establishing robust runbooks and steady-state support for migrated workloads.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in infrastructure operations or systems engineering.
• 4+ years operating cloud workloads.
• 1+ year of supervisory/management experience.
• Related Bachelor's degree required.
• Strong hands-on AWS production workloads experience.
• Proficiency in Python or Go.
• Hands-on Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience defining and operating against SLOs and error budgets.
• Observability tooling experience (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
• On-call experience in a production environment.
• Kubernetes or EKS in production.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain monitoring for migrated workloads.
• Automate patching, backup validation, and certificate renewal.
• Define operational readiness criteria before cloud deployment.
• Develop disaster recovery runbooks and test failovers.
• Respond to incidents and participate in on-call rotation.
• Automate manual procedures into repeatable tasks.
• Track availability and report recurring issues.
• Manage backup retention and restore testing for cloud workloads.
• Troubleshoot AWS compute, including Windows and Linux.
• Partner to transition migrated workloads to steady-state support.
• Maintain runbooks and on-call documentation.
