Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Sr. Cloud Hardware Development Engineer with a mechanical focus to join our Network Product Development team.

You will design, validate, and sustain optical module hardware for AWS networking, collaborating with design, manufacturing, and cross-functional partners to deliver manufacturable, thermally optimized solutions. You will drive DFMs, perform thermal simulations and tests, and develop automation for verification and manufacturing processes, helping to scale hardware

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
8+ years in mechanical design for hardware systems.
Experience with thermal simulation and validation.
Experience automating validation testbeds for thermal/mechanical characterization.
Data analysis and presenting data-driven deep dives.

Responsibilities

Mechanical and thermal design for optical modules and systems.
Perform structural analysis and enclosure design.
Conduct thermal simulations and validation across operating conditions.
Develop and automate test plans for verification and qualification.
Collaborate with vendors and manufacturing partners on DFMs and cost reductions.
Support manufacturing yields and RMA process improvements.
